Sheep River (E3-123)
Site Details
This 65-acre site is approximately 11 km W of Okotoks, mainly on the N side of Sheep River, and encompasses mature cottonwoods, native shrubs and grasses. Access to the site is from Highway 549. Travel S on RR 15 and park at the end of the road. Continue S on foot along the undeveloped road allowance, through two gates to the site boundary. The site lies within the flood plain of the Sheep River, and a natural spring exists at its E end. Wildlife in the area includes white-tailed and mule deer, elk, moose, cougar, wolf, black bear, coyote, pheasant, turkey and grouse. Mountain whitefish and rainbow trout are the dominant fish species in this stretch of the river.
Restrictions
Day use only. No open fires. Foot access only. Park in designated area only and do not block road allowance. Leave gates as they were found. Obtain landowner permission to access neighbouring private land.
