Rossington (D3-72)

Site Details

This 319-acre site along the Pembina River is approximately 20 km E of Barrhead. While there is no direct road access, it is 350 m N of Highway 18 and can be accessed on foot along the river or through a narrow public access corridor located directly N of the site sign. The access trail follows the treeline W of a cultivated field. The site includes the quarters listed on the E side of the Pembina River, except for the cultivated lands, which are held under a farm development lease. The site does not include the portion of NW-09 N of the oxbow or those portions of quarter sections on the W side of the Pembina River. It is mostly forested with mature trembling aspen. Part of an oxbow lake enters the site on the E side, providing habitat for ducks and other wetland species. Other wildlife in the area includes moose, white-tailed and mule deer, black bear and ruffed grouse. Fish species in the Pembina River include northern pike, walleye and goldeye.
