McVinnie Reservoir - ACA Fish Stocking
Featuring a large pond and 152 acres of tame and native grassland habitat, this site is perfect for a day trip from most places in southern Alberta. ACA annually stocks this pond with rainbow trout, typically before the May long weekend. This small pond can even produce trophy fish as demonstrated by the 12-pound, 30-inch trout captured in 2007. A maintained parking area and day-use facilities including an outhouse, garbage bins, and floating docks are available for the pubic to use. The grassland, cattail, and shrub complexes on the site also provide opportunities to pursue a wily pheasant or partridge in the fall. Bird watchers will enjoy the various songbirds and shorebirds found here. Travel north from West Lethbridge on Highway 25 for approximately 20.4 km to RR 214. Travel north on RR 214 for 17.9 km. An access road and site sign are located on the east side of the road.
Day use only. No open fires. Foot access only.
